Q.Does Johnson & Johnson Ltd. offer any product or category training?

Johnson & Johnson Ltd is committed to pharmacy and the development of pharmacy. As such we are very active providers of training; primarily to Pharmacy Support Staff but also to Pre- registration, undergraduates, those working in the dispensary and pharmacists.

Q.What is your policy on out of date products?

Johnson & Johnson Ltd. does not have an “out of date” policy. It is the pharmacy’s responsibility to rotate stock on a “first in, first out” basis. This will help ensure that product does not go out of date on shelf.

Q.Why are there so many different NICORETTE® formats? [Gum, patch, mouth spray, inhalator, lozenge, microtab and nasal spray]

At Johnson & Johnson Ltd we believe that every smoker is different. Giving up smoking can be difficult for many reasons. One reason is that smokers are usually addicted to nicotine. Nicotine is not one of the carcinogeninc [cancer-causing] elements of a cigarette but, in a cigarette, it can be addictive.

Satisfying nicotine cravings can be instrumental in helping a smoker to stop smoking. By offering quitters a range of NRT [nicotine replacement therapy] formats it helps them to select the NRT format that is right for them. Q.Do I tell quitters to use NICORETTE® gum like confectionary gum?

It is better to advise customers to use the “chew, park, chew” method. To ensure that they get the most from NICORETTE® gum they should use the following chewing technique:

  • Chew the gum slowly until the taste becomes quite strong
  • When this happens, they should rest the gum between their cheek and teeth
  • Chewing the gum releases nicotine which is then absorbed through the lining of the mouth
  • When the taste has faded they should chew the gum again
Q.Would REGAINE® work for any customer who is concerned about hair loss?

Q.How can I tell whether a customer has an allergy or a “summer cold”?

Customers may not have suffered a previous allergic reaction and therefore assume that they’ve got a summer cold. The questions you ask can help you determine how best to help your customers.

For example, thicker nasal discharge might indicate a cold as thinner, watery discharge is more associated with allergy.
Similarly, eye symptoms [for example, itchy eyes] are a common symptom of allergy, but not of a cold.

Q.What should I say if I’m asked what is the most effective treatment for a customer’s allergy?

The most effective way to treat an allergy is to steer clear of the allergen in question. That may not always be practical for your customer. Fortunately, there are lots of OTC treatments you might suggest that they take to relieve their allergy symptoms.

Q.Following the changes to age indications for children’s cough and cold remedies some customers are concerned that they can no longer give Benylin to their customers. What should I say to them?

You could tell them that the BENYLIN® range has a special range of products to provide relief from coughs for their children. BENYLIN® Infant Cough Syrup [glycerol] is suitable for children aged 3 months and over.

BENYLIN® Children’s Chesty Coughs [guaifenesin] and BENYLIN® Children’s Night Coughs [diphenhydramine, levomenthol] are both suitable for children aged 6 years and over.

Q.Are blackheads pieces of dirt?

Blackheads are not actually dirt. Their black appearance is caused by the oil & dead skin cells in pores being exposed to the air. When that happens, the oil & dead skin cells turn black.
